Gingerbread cookies recipe


1 cup of white sugar

1 cup of molasses

3/4 of cup lard

1/2 cup of hot water

2 eggs

6 cups of all purpose flour

1 teaspoon of baking soda

1/2 of teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

1 1/2 teaspoons of ground ginger

How to make them:

  1. In a large bowl, mix together sugar, molasses, lard, and hot water until they’re smooth. Stir in the eggs, combine the baking soda, flour, cinnamon, salt and ginger; stir it with the batter to make a soft dough. Add more flour if needed. Cover the bowl and refrigerate dough for at least 1 hour, or until the dough is firm.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit(175 degrees C). Roll out the dough to 1/4 inch thickness on a floured and smooth surface. Cut into desired shapes using cookie cutters. Place cookies onto ungreased baking sheets.
  3. Bake the dough for 10 in the preheated oven, or until cookies appear to have hardened in the center. Then later you can decorate it with powdered sugar.
